The short version
- ExploraQuest is for parents and guardians aged 18 or over. Children use Guides with you, not the app.
- Stay with your kids. You are responsible for their safety, and venue rules always come first.
- Guides are AI-assisted and can contain mistakes. Check hours, prices and safety information yourself.
- The Emergency Contact code is a helpful extra, not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911 or local services.
- Credits never expire and aren’t a subscription. Failed guides give your credit back.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Dovetail Ventures LLC (“ExploraQuest,” “we,” “us”), a Texas limited liability company that operates ExploraQuest as one of its brands. They cover your use of exploraquest.com, the ExploraQuest web application, the guides we generate, the Trip Companion and Emergency Contact pages, and our emails (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, buying credits, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and confirm that you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please read section 19 carefully. It explains how disputes between you and us are resolved.
2. Who may use ExploraQuest
The Service is for parents, legal guardians, and other responsible adults planning trips for children in their care. To create an account you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher);
- be the parent or legal guardian of each child you create a profile for, or have that parent’s or guardian’s permission; and
- not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law.
Children may enjoy the printed guides and the Trip Companion page under your supervision, but they may not create accounts or use the account features of the Service.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your password confidential, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@exploraquest.comif you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. Each account is for one household. Don’t share your login outside your household.
Please use a codename or nicknamefor each child rather than their real name, and don’t put personal details in free-text fields such as trip names. Guides are printed and carried in public (see section 8).
4. What ExploraQuest provides
ExploraQuest generates printable, personalized activity guides (“Guides”) for a specific child at a specific destination. A Guide may include observation activities, a scavenger hunt, puzzles, facts about the destination, a scoring and rank system, pages for parents, a Trip Companion QR code, and an Emergency Contact QR code.
We are always improving ExploraQuest. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, destinations, languages, artwork, or content at any time. Where a change materially reduces what you have already paid for, we will offer you a fair remedy, such as restoring unused credits or a pro-rata refund for them.
5. Safety and adult supervision
Guides are designed to be used by children under the direct, continuous supervision of a responsible adult. You are solely responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in your care while they use a Guide.
In particular, you agree to make sure that:
- each activity suits your child’s age, abilities, health, and any allergies or medical needs;
- children follow the rules, signs, opening hours, and staff instructions of every venue, and never enter restricted, closed, or unsafe areas to complete an activity;
- children do not touch exhibits, artifacts, animals, plants, or property unless touching is clearly allowed;
- children are not encouraged to approach or talk to strangers to complete an activity;
- you check traffic, water, heights, crowds, weather, and other hazards yourself; and
- you decide, in your own judgment, to skip any activity that is not safe or appropriate in the circumstances.
A Guide is a source of fun and learning. It is not a safety plan, a map, a travel itinerary, or professional advice.
6. AI-generated content and accuracy
Guides are produced with the help of generative artificial intelligence and automated research. We use quality checks, but AI-generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. It may describe features, exhibits, or facts that do not exist or have changed.
- Always check opening hours, ticket prices, accessibility, directions, closures, and safety information directly with the venue or official sources before and during your visit. The same applies to the parents’ pages and the Trip Companion page.
- Weather forecasts come from a third-party source and are estimates only.
- Facts in a Guide are for fun and general learning. They are not a reference or educational authority.
If you find something wrong or inappropriate in a Guide, please tell us at support@exploraquest.com. See section 9 for what happens if a Guide is materially defective.
7. The Emergency Contact feature
ExploraQuest is not an emergency service. If a child is lost, hurt, or in danger, call local emergency services (911 in the United States) and alert venue staff or security first.
The Emergency Contact QR code is an extra convenience that lets someone who finds your child send you a message without seeing your contact details. It depends on things outside our control: the finder having a working phone and internet connection and choosing to scan the code, email delivery, your own devices, and third-party networks. Accordingly:
- we do not guarantee that any message will be sent, delivered, or read, or when;
- we do not monitor the thread, verify who is sending messages, or contact anyone on your behalf;
- anyone who holds the Guide can use the code, so treat the thread as visible to whoever has the Guide;
- if you or the finder taps “Use my location,” you’re choosing to share that device’s precise location with whoever else is on the thread, through your browser’s own location permission — we don’t collect it unless that permission is granted;
- once both sides confirm you’re reconnected, the thread closes and cannot be reopened or added to. We keep the closed thread, including any location shared and technical logs, for the period described in our Privacy Policy; and
- you should not rely on this feature as your only way to keep track of, or be reunited with, your child. Keep your own plan, such as agreed meeting points and a contact card.
Using the Emergency Contact page for anything other than a genuine attempt to reunite a child with their family is prohibited.
8. Trip Companion pages, QR codes and links
Each Guide includes a QR code that opens a Trip Companion page for that Guide. Anyone who has the Guide or the link can open that page and the Guide’s PDF link. They show your child’s codename and the destination but not your account details. Keep links private if you don’t want others to see them.
The Service contains links to third-party websites and services, such as Google Maps, search results, venue websites, and Stripe checkout. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
9. Credits, payments and refunds
Credits
- One guide credit generates one Guide for one child at one destination (a city or a specific place).
- New accounts receive one free credit. The free credit is limited to one per household. We may withhold or reverse free credits obtained by creating multiple accounts or other abuse.
- You can buy credits in packs at the prices shown on our Pricing page when you buy. ExploraQuest is not a subscription, and there are no recurring charges.
- Purchased credits do not expire. They are shared across all children in your account.
- Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash (except where the law requires), and cannot be transferred, sold, or moved to another account.
Payment and the merchant of record
Payments are processed through Stripe. For credit-pack purchases, Stripe acts as the merchant of record and resellerthrough its Managed Payments service. That means Stripe sells the credits to you and collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT. Your payment is also subject to Stripe’s terms and privacy policy, which Stripe shows at checkout. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise. Taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you live.
We may change prices for future purchases at any time. A price change never affects credits you have already bought.
Failed generations
If a Guide fails to generate, the credit is returned to your account. Our team is alerted automatically and may re-run the Guide for you.
Refunds
If you are not satisfied, you may request a refund of a credit pack within 14 days of purchase, provided no credits from that pack have been used. Refunds for partly used packs, or for Guides that are materially defective (for example, largely about the wrong destination), are at our discretion. We may instead restore the credit so you can regenerate the Guide. To ask, contact us at the address in section 22.
Consumers in the EU and UK: Guides are digital content supplied immediately after you use a credit. By using a credit, you ask us to begin supplying the Guide immediately and acknowledge that you lose your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for that Guide once generation begins. Unused credits remain subject to any withdrawal rights the law gives you. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.
If you file a chargeback or payment dispute for a legitimate purchase, we may suspend your account while it is resolved and remove credits from the disputed purchase.
10. Your license to use Guides
When a Guide is generated for you, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, view, print, and copy that Guide, and to use the related Trip Companion page, for your own household’s personal, non-commercial use. For example, you can print copies for the children on your trip, or share one with a friend travelling with you.
Without our written permission, you may not:
- sell, resell, license, rent, or otherwise commercialize Guides or their contents;
- use Guides for a school, camp, tour, business, or other organized group activity run for payment;
- publish Guides or substantial parts of them online or in print, or remove ExploraQuest branding or notices from them; or
- use Guides, our characters, or our artwork to create competing products or datasets, including for training AI models.
11. Information you provide
You keep ownership of the information you give us, such as child profiles, trip details, reviews, and messages (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display Your Content as needed to provide, secure, and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for copies we must keep by law.
Reviews.If you submit a rating or review, we may use it internally to improve the Service. We will publish it, for example as a testimonial on our website, only with your permission. If we do, we will show only your first name or initials, never your children’s names.
You confirm that you have the right to provide Your Content, including any alternate email address you enter, and that it does not violate any law or anyone’s rights.
12. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose;
- enter content that is obscene, hateful, harassing, or violent, or that infringes anyone’s rights, including in destination names or trip titles;
- try to make the Service produce content that is inappropriate for children;
- create profiles for children who are not in your care without the permission of their parent or guardian;
- misuse the Emergency Contact feature, including false reports, spam, harassment, or impersonation;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, get around security or access controls, or guess other people’s QR, emergency, or unsubscribe links;
- scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service, except for search engines indexing our public pages;
- interfere with or overload the Service, or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows; or
- create multiple accounts to get free credits, or otherwise abuse promotions.
If you believe someone is violating these Terms, or you find a security vulnerability, please tell us at support@exploraquest.com.
13. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, page layouts, activity formats, text, artwork, and the characters Quest, Compass, and Pico, and the ExploraQuest name and logos, is owned by ExploraQuest or its licensors. It is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Apart from the limited license in section 10, these Terms do not grant you any rights in it. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
14. Emails
By creating an account, you agree to receive service emails such as account confirmation, “guides ready” notices, and emergency alerts. These are part of the Service. We may also send product emails such as trip reminders and review requests. You can unsubscribe from those at any time using the link in each email, as described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Suspension, termination and account deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing support@exploraquest.com. Unused credits are forfeited when an account is deleted, unless the law requires otherwise.
We may suspend or end your access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect children, other users, the public, or the Service. Where reasonable, we will notify you and give you a chance to fix the problem first. If we end your access without cause, we will refund unused purchased credits.
Sections 10 (as to Guides already downloaded), 11 to 13, and 16 to 21 survive termination.
16. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all Guides are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that Guide content will be accurate or complete, or that any message sent through the Emergency Contact feature will be delivered.
We are not responsible for the destinations you visit, their operators, or the conduct of any third party, including anyone who finds a Guide or uses the Emergency Contact page.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you. If you are a consumer, you also have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ExploraQuest and its owners, officers, employees, agents, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages. They will also not be liable for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, whatever the legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) US $50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or, for consumers in the EU and UK, for breach of statutory consumer rights.
18. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless ExploraQuest and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties. This covers claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or Your Content. This section does not apply to consumers where the law prohibits it.
19. Governing law and disputes
Talk to us first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly. Before starting any formal proceeding, please email support@exploraquest.com describing the issue. Both sides agree to try in good faith to resolve it informally for at least 30 days.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction.
Consumers outside the United States. If you live in the EU, UK, or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home courts or keep the protection of your local consumer law, nothing in this section takes that right away.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Service at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or fixes a safety issue. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service. Unused purchased credits remain refundable in line with section 9 or as the law requires.
21. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and that part is enforced to the maximum extent possible.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or to an affiliate, and will notify you if we do.
- Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including failures of third-party services we rely on.
- Notices. We may give notices by email to the address on your account or within the Service. You may give us notice at the address in section 22.
- Language. The Service may be offered in several languages. If a translation of these Terms conflicts with the English version, the English version controls, except where the law requires otherwise.
